Can you join us tonight at Cleveland City Council?
For the past few weeks, members of Clevelanders for Public Transit have been gathering signatures opposing the Quicken Loans Arena Renovation deal. The deal diverts $11 million dollars each year away from the city’s general fund and into the Q.
At the same time, GCRTA services have been cut, single fares are going up to $2.75 next year, and GCRTA is facing massive budget shortfalls that would lead to a 10% cuts in service and layoffs in the next couple years.
Today 20,000 signatures were dropped off to Cleveland to put the Q funding on the Cleveland ballot. Cleveland’s Clerk of Council refused to accept them.
Now we are asking you to come out tonight.
We need your support.
Quicken Loans spent over $11 million on the Q Line streetcar in Detroit while Cleveland’s bus and rail systems are falling apart.
Thousands use transit to get to the Q, but now can’t get home with the green line only running until 9pm.
We want funding for #BusesNotBillionaires.
We want an agreement that benefits transit or no agreement at all.
See you tonight at 6:45pm at Cleveland City Hall, 601 Lakeside Ave.
