CPT will be taking nominations from the floor on Monday night. We also will take nominations by email to info@clefortransit.org.
Deadline is April 1st.
You can nominate yourself or another CPT member.
The election will be at our April riders meeting on Monday, April 15th.
Ohio budget update:
Despite being the 7th largest state
, Ohio ranks 45th in the nation for our state’s support of public transit. Ohio’s funding for transit has plummeted from over $40 million in 2001 to less than $7 million today – that is only $0.63 cents per person. This is unacceptable.
Currently, MOVE Ohio, a diverse coalition from urban, suburban and rural Ohio, has proposed that 20% of all new gas tax revenue be directed to a Transportation Choice Fund for public transit, pedestrian, ADA and bicycling infrastructure.
Although CPT continues to fight for dedicated funding, we do have some positive news.
Currently, Ohio spends $33 million dollars of federal money (“flex funds”) on transit. Because of riders like you taking action our demand for more funding as been heard.
The federal flex funds for transit have been increased to $100 million dollars in the house transportation bill. Now the bill is in the state senate and we are hearing Senate President Obhof may remove the transit funding we fought for!

Tell him to support transit funding! We need a lot more than $100 million dollars.
Obhof’s district includes Medina, Richland, Ashland, and parts of Holmes county. If you have friends/family in those counties please forward this email and have them call their state senator.
