CPT In The News: “RTA smart fare cards on the way, finally, RTA says”

Smart cards, said Chris Stocking of Clevelanders for Public Transit, speed up the boarding process and keep buses on schedule, encouraging ridership and making the transit system more efficient as a whole.

Read our full press release for more information here.

Although smart cards are nearly a decade late, CPT is pleased with findings in RTA’s Fare Equity study, including:

  • Restoring transfers to single-trip fares
  • Reducing the price of all-day passes
  • Fare-capping as part of a next-gen fare collection system

Do you agree? Help make sure these changes happen — join CPT!

These recommendations are in line with CPT’s Fair Fares platform that was released last year. Check out our Fair Fares platform here.

RTA System Redesign and Fare Equity Meetings coming up!

The upcoming RTA community meetings are the last chance for you to share your input on RTA’s system redesign and fare studies.

RTA says that the input received during this final round of meetings will have a significant impact on the future of our region’s Public Transit system.

More information and full list of meeting locations available here.
